Artist's Comments

So I've been researching ACEO's and thought they were rather neat.

So here is my first ACEO. It's of Jackson Rathbone, Jasper in the Twilight movie. This drawing is 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and was probably the quickest finished work I have done in years clocking in at 45 minutes.

The scan does not do it justice AT ALL. I tried to do some level correction in Photoshop but it still left out some of the subtle shading details.

I give :iconthetwilightfanclub: and :icontwilighters-forever: Permission to post this.

Edit: And its up on eBay if anyone is interested here: [link]

Edit2: Sold!

Stunning details; you inspired me to look up what exactly ACEOs were. I guess I just forgot the abbreviation for them... anyway I just have a general question: It seems like index cards would be the most accessible and efficient material to use but what type of paper did you use? Did you have to cut it down to the appropriate 2.5 x 3.5" size?

Great job and although not all the shading can be seen, I think the way you shaded the jaw and neck with simple lines is ingenious. I might have to try that myself. They eyes are truly captivating. Unfortunately I have yet to see Twilight :)

Being as this was my first attempt at an ACEO I just used my regular sketch paper. I sketched it on my 9x6 sketchpad which has 65lb bright white and acid free paper. It was more or less an experiment to see if I could draw in such a small area and it still look good. I cut it out of the paper with an Xacto knife using a trading card I had to help keep the lines straight. I actually intend now to go get some card stock paper so any future ACEO's I do will be sturdier.

Thanks so much I always seem to do my best job on eyes, and the line shading was the easiest shading method at that size.

Twilight was great, if you have read the books then you won't be terribly disappointed with their choices or the story. :)

honestly... brilliant! but you have to tell me. what is a ACEO?

Thanks! I have a second one of these I'll be submitting to the club soon.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Edition and Originals. They are trading card size pieces of artwork, they can be prints, originals, paintings, drawings, collages, etc. The only rule is they have to be 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch. They are amazingly fun and I am honestly addicted. :D

I tried submitting three at once and got in trouble too, I didn't see the new rules either HA.

They are addicting because they are quick, my bigger pieces always take days but this card took 45 minutes, and my other cards I have done only took an hour or two. Oh they have another name, ATCs or Artist Trading Cards. ATCs are traded, ACEOs are sold. I've sold this one, and two others so far. :D
:icondean-winchester:
you dont mind if i start doing them? how much do you sell them for? which one did you sell?
